Buried Airline for the Land Run Between Compressor and Pond
The Airmax Direct Burial Airline is the counterpart to the underwater EasySet Weighted Airline - a rugged 5/8-inch polyethylene tubing rated for underground use in the trenched run from the aeration compressor cabinet to the shoreline. Because most compressor pads sit away from the water's edge, most aeration installs actually need two kinds of airline: one for the buried land run (this product) and one for the submerged pond run (EasySet Weighted). They join at the shore with a standard EasySet Connector Kit.
Built for the mechanical punishment of a buried install: crush-resistant thick-wall construction that won't deform under settling soil, UV-resistant for the small exposed transitions at the cabinet and pond edge, and a smooth interior wall for low pressure drop across long shore runs. 5/8-inch inside diameter matches the higher-CFM systems (SW40, PS40, PS60, SolarSeries) and any single line running longer than 300 ft.

Connect to any Airmax compressor at the cabinet end with a 5/8-inch connector kit and to the pond's weighted airline at the shore end with a 5/8-to-5/8 kit. Cuts to length with a utility knife. Requirements & What to Know Before You Buy
- Underground Use Only: Direct Burial Airline is designed to be trenched in and buried. It's not weighted, so if you drop it in water it floats. For the submerged pond run use Airmax EasySet Weighted Airline (sold separately).
- Typical Install: most Airmax aeration systems need both airline types - Direct Burial from the compressor cabinet out to the shoreline, then EasySet Weighted from the shoreline down to the diffuser. They connect at the shore with a 5/8-inch Connector Kit.
- Trench Depth: 6 to 12 inches. Remove exposed rocks and sharp debris before laying the airline in - the thick wall resists crushing but sharp objects will eventually work through.
- Maximum Length per Plate: 1,000 ft total per diffuser (buried + underwater combined). Beyond that, pressure drop starts to noticeably reduce diffuser output.
- 5/8-inch is Standard: Direct Burial ships only in 5/8-inch to match the size customers typically need for the long shore run. 5/8-inch is required when the single line runs over 300 ft, when total system airline exceeds 600 ft, or when the compressor is a higher-CFM SW40 / PS40 / PS60 / SolarSeries.
- Connector Kits Required: use a 5/8-inch EasySet Airline Connector Kit at the compressor end. Use a 5/8-to-3/8 or 5/8-to-5/8 kit at the shoreline transition depending on the diameter of the pond-side Weighted Airline you're using. Sold separately.
- Cutting to Length: cuts cleanly with a utility knife. Make the cut square (not at an angle) for a proper seal with the connector fittings.
- UV Exposure at Transitions: the tubing is UV-resistant enough for brief exposed transitions at the compressor cabinet and pond edge, but long exposed spans in direct sunlight aren't recommended. Bury the whole shore run or shield exposed sections.
- Frost Depth: in freezing climates, bury below the local frost line where possible to protect the airline from soil movement during freeze-thaw cycles. Airmax's 6-12 inch general recommendation is a minimum, not a maximum.
