The Airmax Remote Manifold Kit moves the airflow-balancing valves from inside the compressor cabinet out to the pond's edge - where the diffusers actually are. Instead of running four or six separate airlines from the compressor pad all the way to the pond and then walking back and forth between the cabinet and the water to adjust each valve, you run ONE larger 1-inch direct-burial line to a weatherproof junction box at the shore, then split from the manifold into individual diffuser lines with adjustable valves for each. Turn a valve. Look at the diffuser. Turn it again. Done in one trip.
This is the accessory that separates a home-DIY aeration install from a professional-grade one. On systems with 4 or more diffusers spread across a large pond, individual diffusers rarely need the same airflow - one might be in shallower water than another, a diffuser closer to the manifold gets more line pressure than the far one, and so on. Fine-tuning each valve at the pond's edge (where you can see the surface boil of each diffuser) is how you actually balance the aeration.

Requirements & What to Know Before You Buy
- Aeration System Compatibility: 4-Port fits SW20, SW40, SW20HP, SW40HP, PS20, PS30, PS40, and PS80 systems (single kit); pair two 4-Port kits for LS40 and LS80. 6-Port fits PS60, LS60, and LS80 (single kit) and LS120 (two kits).
- Two-Compressor Systems: if your aeration system has two compressors, you need two Remote Manifold Kits and two direct-burial airline runs - one per compressor. Airmax's LS120 is the common example.
- Direct-Burial Airline Required: the manifold accepts 1-inch poly tubing at the input. Airmax sells matching direct-burial tubing separately - budget for the single 1-inch run from the compressor to the manifold plus one Weighted Airline run per diffuser.
- Junction Box Location: place the junction box at the pond's edge where you can see all your diffusers. Above the normal high-water mark but close enough to walk out and adjust valves while watching the surface boil.
- Trench Depth for 1-inch Tubing: 6 to 12 inches typical, deeper below frost line in freezing climates. The 1-inch poly tubing is heavier than 3/8 or 5/8 airline - line the trench with sand if you have sharp fill.
- Individual Valve Adjustment: the whole point of the manifold. Each port has its own ball valve. Walk to the pond, open the junction box, and dial in each diffuser individually while watching the surface. Small adjustments (quarter turns) make a bigger difference than you'd expect.
- Weatherproof Enclosure: the junction box is IP-rated for outdoor use. Latching lid keeps rain and debris out but is not tamper-proof - if the install is in a public area consider a lockable secondary enclosure.
