The Hydro-Torque is Vanguard's flagship display fountain line - stainless steel submersible pumps sized for real lake-scale water features and built for continuous 24/7 duty. Five motor sizes span the range from a 1/2 HP for 1/2-acre residential ponds up to a 5 HP for 5-acre municipal water bodies, and everything in between. Interchangeable spray nozzles let you dial in the exact visual you want - a tall single geyser, a wide crown, a starburst pattern, or anything in between.
Every Hydro-Torque ships with the pump, rotomolded 30 in float, quick-change nozzle mount, and shore-mounted electrical control. Two GFCI configurations cover most installs: the 115V Inline GFCI + Timer for compact residential installs (1/2 and 1 HP only), or the Deluxe GFCI Breaker Panel with weatherproof shore enclosure, timer, and breaker switch. The 2, 3, and 5 HP motors are 230V only - the current draw at those sizes on 115V isn't practical.

Requirements & What to Know Before You Buy
- Lake Size: 1/2 HP for up to 1/2 acre; 1 HP for up to 1 acre; 2 HP for up to 2 acres; 3 HP for up to 3 acres; 5 HP for up to 5 acres. Match motor size to acreage - undersizing gives you a wimpy plume.
- Lake Depth: 24 in minimum operating depth. Deeper lakes typically look better with the taller-spray HPs (3 or 5 HP).
- Power: 1/2 HP and 1 HP available in 115V or 230V. 2 HP, 3 HP, 5 HP are 230V only - current draw at 115V for those sizes exceeds standard household circuits. Plug into a properly sized GFCI-protected dedicated circuit.
- Cord Length: 100, 150, 200, or 250 ft. Match gauge to run length using the Wire Size Chart. Longer runs need heavier gauge to avoid voltage drop.
- GFCI Configuration: the Inline option is compact and plug-and-play (115V only). The Deluxe Breaker Panel is required for 230V and recommended for permanent installs.
- Nozzles: the quick-change nozzle mount ships with the fountain but individual nozzle patterns are sold separately. Pick the pattern (or patterns) you want to swap between for your visual.
- Mooring: the float has tether points but anchors and rope are sold separately. Larger lakes typically need 4 anchors positioned around the float.
- Winterization: remove the fountain from the water before freezing conditions. The shore enclosure stays on the bank year-round.
