Five Different Fountain Displays with the Scott Aerator Great Lakes Fountain

Most pond fountains lock you into a single spray pattern. The Scott Aerator Great Lakes Fountain ships with five interchangeable brass nozzles, giving you the ability to completely change the look of your water feature in minutes without any tools. Swap between a tall vertical geyser, a layered cascade, a wide conical spread, a cone-shaped column, or a multi-tiered classic display depending on the mood, the season, or the event. Each nozzle also provides meaningful aeration, pulling water through the pump and breaking it into droplets on the way back down to increase oxygen transfer and promote a healthier pond ecosystem. If you have ever wished you could get more than one look out of a single fountain investment, the Great Lakes was designed specifically for that.

Under the nozzles sits the same oil-free stainless steel submersible motor that powers Scott Aerator's entire product line, built in Holland, Michigan and backed by an unconditional 5-year warranty. The motor runs around the clock with nothing to service, nothing to drain, and no separate control box to install on the smaller units. It is rated for fresh water and salt water out of the box, and when winter comes there is no takedown process. Leave the Great Lakes in the pond, cut power, and let the ice form around it. Everything from the float to the motor housing is built to survive subzero conditions, so you simply restore power after the thaw and pick your favorite nozzle for the new season.

Five motor options ranging from 3/4 HP to 3 HP let you size the Great Lakes for ponds as small as 1/4 acre or as large as 2+ acres. The 3/4 and 1 HP models offer both 115V and 230V, while the 1-1/2, 2, and 3 HP units run on 230V only. Every configuration ships with 100 feet of 10-gauge submersible cable, and optional LED light kits turn the fountain into an after-dark showpiece. Use the nozzle pattern charts, motor comparison, and cable length calculator below to find the right setup for your property.

Benefits of the Scott Aerator Great Lakes Fountain

Five Nozzles Included
Every Great Lakes Fountain ships with five precision brass nozzles that swap out in minutes with no tools: the Gusher, Cambridge, Baystone, Millbrook, and Tudor. All five are included regardless of motor size, so you get the full range of display options on every configuration.
Dramatic Spray Range
Pattern dimensions scale with motor size. The Gusher nozzle alone reaches from 20 feet high on the 3/4 HP to 50 feet high on the 3 HP. The widest nozzle, the Tudor, spreads up to 50 feet across on the 2 HP and 55 feet on the 3 HP. Detailed dimensions for every nozzle and motor combination are listed in the spray pattern tables below.
Built-In Aeration
Each nozzle forces pond water through the pump assembly and breaks it into fine droplets on the return, exposing more surface area to the air and driving oxygen back into the water column. Flow rates range from 65 GPM on the 3/4 HP to 180 GPM on the 3 HP.
Zero-Maintenance Motor
The oil-free stainless steel submersible motor is designed to operate nonstop with nothing to service. There is no oil reservoir, no filter to replace, and no external control box on the 3/4 through 1-1/2 HP units. The 2 HP and 3 HP models include a control box as part of the package.
All-Season, All-Water
Fresh water, salt water, and brackish ponds are all supported with no additional coatings or equipment. The Great Lakes stays in the water through winter with no winterizing needed. Every component handles subzero temperatures without damage.
Five Motor Sizes
Pick from 3/4, 1, 1-1/2, 2, or 3 HP. The two smaller motors come in both 115V and 230V. The three larger motors are 230V only. That gives you seven total configurations to match your pond size and electrical setup.

Key Features of the Great Lakes Fountain by Scott Aerator

  • Five Interchangeable Brass Nozzles: Each Great Lakes Fountain includes five precision brass nozzles that change out in minutes with no tools. The Baystone delivers a layered, traditional spray with a center peak. The Cambridge creates a multi-tiered classic pattern. The Tudor throws a wide conical spread. The Millbrook produces a cone-shaped vertical column. The Gusher shoots an adjustable single stream straight up. One fountain, five completely different looks.
  • Oil-Free Stainless Steel Motor: Every Great Lakes runs on an environmentally friendly submersible motor sealed in marine-grade stainless steel. No oil to check, no filters to swap, and no scheduled service. The 3/4 through 1-1/2 HP units operate without a control box. The 2 and 3 HP models include a control box as part of the system. All motors are manufactured in Holland, Michigan.
  • 100 Feet of 10-Gauge Cable Standard: Every configuration ships with 100 feet of 10-gauge submersible cable regardless of motor size, giving you more reach out of the box than most competing fountains. The 3/4 and 1 HP 115V models include a standard plug. Longer cables are available if your breaker panel is farther from the water's edge.
  • Survives Every Season: There is no fall teardown and no spring reinstallation. Leave the Great Lakes in the pond, disconnect power before freeze-up, and reconnect when the ice melts. The float, motor housing, nozzles, and filter basket are all engineered for subzero exposure with no damage.
  • Fresh Water and Salt Water Ready: The stainless steel construction handles salt water and brackish ponds without extra coatings, sleeves, or add-on protection. No modifications are needed.

Requirements & What to Know Before You Buy

  • Deeper Minimum Depth: The Great Lakes requires more water depth than most Scott Aerator fountains because of its nozzle assembly. Minimum depth is 44" for the 3/4 and 1 HP, 50" for the 1-1/2 HP, 56" for the 2 HP, and 64" for the 3 HP. Measure where the fountain will sit, not at the shoreline.
  • GFCI-Protected Circuit Required: Every Great Lakes installation needs a dedicated GFCI circuit. If you are not certain your existing wiring qualifies, have a licensed electrician verify before you order.
  • Power Off Around Swimmers: Disconnect the fountain from its power source any time someone enters the water.
  • Two-Point Anchor System: You will need two anchor weights or concrete blocks and two nylon mooring ropes. Minimum weight per anchor is 25 lbs for the 3/4 and 1 HP, 45 lbs for the 1-1/2 and 2 HP, and 55 lbs for the 3 HP. None of the anchoring hardware is included.
  • Extension Cords Are Not Permitted: The motor must connect to the breaker panel through the included submersible cable or a properly sized replacement. Check the cable length chart above if your panel is farther than 100 feet from the pond.
  • 115V Plugs In, 230V Gets Hardwired: The 3/4 and 1 HP 115V models come with a plug for a standard residential outlet. The 230V versions of those motors, plus all 1-1/2 HP and above configurations, are hardwired into a panel. Scott Aerator recommends the 230V option for the 1 HP to prevent voltage drop on longer cable runs.
  • No Off-Season Removal: The Great Lakes is built to stay in the water 365 days a year. Cut power before freeze-up and let ice form around the unit. Restore power in the spring with no special procedures needed. All materials handle subzero conditions.
  • Salt Water and Brackish Ponds: The stainless steel motor and brass nozzles work in salt water without any special treatment or protective add-ons.
  • 2 HP and 3 HP Include a Control Box: The two largest motor options ship with a control box as part of the system. The 3/4, 1, and 1-1/2 HP motors operate without one.
  • ARL Compliance: Every Great Lakes configuration is ARL tested and approved to meet the applicable requirements of UL and the National Electric Code as a complete package.

What's Included & Optional Add-Ons

  • In the Box: Fountain pump assembly, heavy-duty float platform, stainless steel filter basket, five brass nozzles (Gusher, Cambridge, Baystone, Millbrook, and Tudor), 100 feet of 10-gauge submersible cable, self-tapping assembly screws, and owner's manual. The 2 HP and 3 HP configurations also include a control box.
  • Available Separately - LED Lights: Night Glo warm white or color-changing LED sets screw directly onto the fountain float and run off 115V household power. A 2-light set suits the 3/4 and 1 HP; a 4-light set is recommended for 1-1/2 HP and above. All light sets include a built-in timer. The color-changing version ships with a wireless remote rated for 300 feet.
  • Available Separately - Motor Timers: Mechanical-dial timers let you program the fountain to cycle on and off throughout the day. Choose 115V (plug-in) or 230V (hardwired), both housed in a weather-resistant enclosure. The timer controls the fountain motor only, since the light kits include their own timer.
  • Available Separately - Anchors & Mooring Line: Two anchor weights or concrete blocks and two nylon ropes are needed to hold the Great Lakes in position. These are not part of the package.
  • Available Separately - Longer Cables: If 100 feet of cable is not enough to reach your breaker panel, longer submersible replacement cables are available in the same 10-gauge specification.

Overview

Most pond fountains give you one spray pattern. The Scott Aerator Great Lakes ships with five interchangeable brass nozzles, so you can change the entire look of your fountain in minutes without tools. Choose from a tall geyser, a layered cascade, a wide conical spread, a cone-shaped column, or a multi-tiered classic display. Every nozzle also aerates your pond by pulling water through the pump and breaking it into droplets on the way back down.

The Great Lakes runs on an oil-free stainless steel motor built in Michigan, rated for 24-hour operation with zero maintenance. It handles salt water and fresh water, and there is no winterizing process. Leave it in the pond year-round, cut power for winter, and restart after the thaw.

Five motor options from 3/4 HP to 3 HP cover ponds ranging from 1/4 acre to 2+ acres. Every unit ships with 100 feet of 10-gauge submersible cable. Optional LED light kits and timers are available to round out your setup.

Benefits of the Scott Aerator Great Lakes Fountain

Five Nozzles Included Every Great Lakes Fountain ships with five precision brass nozzles that swap out in minutes with no tools: the Gusher, Cambridge, Baystone, Millbrook, and Tudor. All five are included regardless of motor size, so you get the full range of display options on every configuration. Dramatic Spray Range Pattern dimensions scale with motor size. Built-In Aeration Each nozzle forces pond water through the pump assembly and breaks it into fine droplets on the return, exposing more surface area to the air and driving oxygen back into the water column. Flow rates range from 65 GPM on the 3/4 HP to 180 GPM on the 3 HP. Zero-Maintenance Motor The oil-free stainless steel submersible motor is designed to operate nonstop with nothing to service. There is no oil reservoir, no filter to replace, and no external control box on the 3/4 through 1-1/2 HP units. The 2 HP and 3 HP models include a control box as part of the package. All-Season, All-Water Fresh water, salt water, and brackish ponds are all supported with no additional coatings or equipment. The Great Lakes stays in the water through winter with no winterizing needed. Every component handles subzero temperatures without damage. Five Motor Sizes Pick from 3/4, 1, 1-1/2, 2, or 3 HP. The two smaller motors come in both 115V and 230V. The three larger motors are 230V only. That gives you seven total configurations to match your pond size and electrical setup.

Spray Pattern Dimensions by Nozzle & Motor Size

Every Great Lakes Fountain includes the same five brass nozzles: Gusher, Cambridge, Baystone, Millbrook, and Tudor. Each can be swapped out in minutes with no tools.
