Pond within 50 ft of an existing outdoor GFCI outlet: Standard electric fountain wins. Start at $585 vs $6,950 for solar. Monthly electricity is only $10-$30.

Pond farther than 100 ft from any outdoor outlet: Solar wins. Trenching electrical service to a remote pond typically costs $5,000-$15,000. Solar fountain at $6,950 all-in with no additional electrical work is often cheaper.

Farm pond, remote property, cabin pond, back-40 pond: Solar is the only practical option.

The 4 solar fountains in this catalog do NOT include batteries. They are "direct drive" systems that run during daylight hours only. Fountain stops when the sun goes down.

Solar fountains are sized for locations with 4-6 hours of direct sun per day averaged over the year. This works throughout the continental US. In cloudier regions or during shorter winter days, run-time drops but the fountain still operates when the sun is on the panel.
