Scott Aerator Boilermaker Pond Aerator
The Scott Aerator Boilermaker Is Built for Clean, Healthy Water
If your pond needs oxygen more than it needs a tall spray pattern, the Scott Aerator Boilermaker is built specifically for that job. Instead of launching water skyward through a nozzle, the Boilermaker churns a massive volume of water at the surface in a low-profile "white boil" effect that drives aggressive oxygen transfer back into the water column. Flow rates range from 18,000 GPH on the 1/3 HP to 48,000 GPH on the 3 HP -- numbers that dwarf what display fountains produce at the same horsepower. That kind of circulation prevents fish kills, eliminates foul odors, breaks down decaying vegetation, fights algae, inhibits mosquito breeding, and keeps water sparkling clean.
The Boilermaker is not just a warm-weather aerator -- it doubles as a pond de-icer in winter. Leave it in the water year-round, and when temperatures drop it keeps a section of the surface open to allow gas exchange. There is no winterizing, no fall removal, and no spring reinstallation. Every component handles subzero temperatures without damage. The oil-free stainless steel submersible motor runs 24 hours a day with zero maintenance, no oil changes, and no control box on the smaller units. It handles fresh water and salt water equally well, and Scott Aerator backs it with an unconditional 5-year motor warranty.
Seven motor sizes from 1/3 HP to 3 HP across ten total configurations cover everything from a small backyard pond to multi-acre lakes and commercial applications including aquaculture and wastewater. The 1/3, 1/2, 3/4, and 1 HP ship in both 115V and 230V, while the 1.5, 2, and 3 HP are 230V only. Add optional color-changing LED lights to illuminate the boil effect after dark, or plug in a timer to control run schedules. Use the motor comparison and cable length charts below to find the right configuration for your site.
The Scott Aerator Boilermaker churns massive water volume at the surface in a low-profile "white boil" that drives aggressive oxygen transfer. Flow rates range from 18,000 to 48,000 GPH -- far more than display fountains at the same horsepower. It prevents fish kills, fights algae, breaks down vegetation, and deters mosquitoes.
It doubles as a pond de-icer in winter. The oil-free stainless steel motor runs 24/7 with zero maintenance, handles salt water, and survives subzero temperatures without removal or winterizing.
Seven HP ratings from 1/3 to 3 HP cover ponds from a backyard to multi-acre lakes. Add optional LED lights or a timer to customize. Use the charts below to compare motors and confirm cable length.

Key Features of the Boilermaker by Scott Aerator
- High-Volume "White Boil" Aeration: The Boilermaker's low-profile design churns water at the surface rather than spraying it into the air. This "white boil" effect maximizes the amount of water exposed to air at any given moment, driving oxygen transfer rates that outperform decorative fountains at every horsepower level. If pond health is the priority over visual display, this is the aerator built for that job.
- Pond De-Icer in Winter: Unlike decorative fountains that get shut off for the season, the Boilermaker can run through winter to keep a section of the surface open for critical gas exchange. This prevents the dangerous oxygen depletion that happens under ice cover and eliminates the need for a separate de-icing unit. When you do shut it off, every component handles subzero temperatures without damage.
- Oil-Free Stainless Steel Motor: Every Boilermaker runs on an environmentally friendly submersible motor sealed in marine-grade stainless steel. There is no oil to monitor, no filter to replace, and no routine service to schedule. All motors are manufactured in Holland, Michigan and rated for continuous 24-hour operation.
- Seven HP Options, Ten Configurations: The 1/3, 1/2, 3/4, and 1 HP ship in both 115V and 230V. The 1.5, 2, and 3 HP are 230V only. Each step up adds flow rate and aeration coverage so you can size the Boilermaker to your pond. Larger motor sizes and voltage options are also available for landfill operators -- contact us for details.
- Factory-Attached Power Cord: Each unit ships ready to connect with a submersible cord (70 feet of 12-gauge on the 1/3 and 1/2 HP, 70 feet of 10-gauge on the 3/4 and 1 HP 115V, 100 feet on the 1.5 HP and above). The 115V models include a standard plug. Longer replacement cords can be ordered separately.
- Residential, Commercial, and Industrial: The Boilermaker works for backyard ponds, HOA lakes, golf course water features, aquaculture operations, and wastewater applications. The same stainless steel construction and oil-free motor design that makes it environmentally friendly also makes it suitable for sensitive water environments.

Requirements & What to Know Before You Buy
- Dedicated GFCI Circuit: A GFCI-protected circuit is mandatory for all Boilermaker installations. Have a licensed electrician handle the wiring if you are not sure your current setup meets this requirement.
- Swimmer Safety: Power must be disconnected any time someone enters the water. This applies to all electric pond equipment, not just the Boilermaker.
- Depth Requirements by Motor: The pond must be at least 32" deep for the 1/3 and 1/2 HP, 36" for the 3/4 and 1 HP, 38" for the 1.5 HP, and 42" for the 2 and 3 HP. Measure at the planned placement point, not at the shoreline.
- Two-Point Anchoring: The Boilermaker requires two anchor weights (or concrete blocks) and two nylon mooring ropes to hold position. Minimum weight per anchor ranges from 20 lbs on the 1/3 through 3/4 HP to 55 lbs on the 3 HP. Anchors and rope are sold separately.
- No Extension Cords Allowed: Running the motor through an extension cord is not permitted. If the included power cord does not reach your breaker panel, use the cable length chart above to select the correct wire gauge for the total run distance, and order a longer cord or have a qualified electrician install a dedicated line.
- Choosing 115V or 230V: The 1/3, 1/2, 3/4, and 1 HP motors come in both voltages. A 115V unit plugs into any standard outlet. A 230V unit needs to be hardwired into a panel. The 1.5 HP, 2 HP, and 3 HP are 230V only. Longer power cords are available for 230V motors only.
- ARL Compliance: Every Boilermaker configuration is ARL tested and approved to meet the applicable requirements of UL and the National Electric Code as a complete package.
What's Included & Optional Add-Ons
- In the Box: Pump assembly, float platform, stainless steel debris shield, self-tapping assembly screws, submersible power cord (length and gauge depend on motor selection), and owner's manual. Everything needed to get the Boilermaker in the water ships together.
- Available Separately - Color-Changing LED Lights: Illuminate the white boil effect after dark with color-changing LED sets that screw directly onto the float and run off 115V household power. The fully programmable timer lets you set up to 16 on/off settings, and the long-range remote works up to 1,000 feet away. Available in 2-light or 4-light sets.
- Available Separately - Motor Timers: Set the aerator to run on a custom schedule using a mechanical-dial timer with multiple on/off positions. Pick 115V (plug-in), 230V (hardwired), or a dual 115V/230V unit, all in a weather-resistant housing.
- Available Separately - Anchors & Mooring Line: Two anchor weights (or concrete blocks) and two nylon ropes are required to hold the Boilermaker in position. These are not included in the package and must be sourced before installation.
- Available Separately - Extended Power Cords: If your breaker panel sits farther from the pond than the factory cord can reach, longer submersible replacement cords are available in the same gauge as the original.
