Scott Aerator Pond De-Icer
Keep Docks, Boats, and Open Water Ice-Free with the Scott Aerator De-Icer
Winter is brutal on docks, boats, pilings, boathouses, and the fish that overwinter under the ice. The Scott Aerator Pond De-Icer stops that damage at the source by lifting warmer bottom water to the surface and circulating it in a continuous, agitated pattern. The result is a clear, ice-free area around whatever you need to protect - from a 40-foot diameter on the 1/3 HP model up to 75 feet on the 1 HP, and as much as 150 feet of open water when paired with the optional oscillator. Scott Aerator has been engineering de-icers for over 45 years out of Holland, Michigan, and the design has been refined to outperform every comparable unit on the market.
Underneath the float and mounting hardware sits the same oil-free stainless steel submersible motor that powers Scott Aerator's entire product line. It runs at 3,450 RPM continuously through the worst of winter, with no scheduled maintenance, no oil to replace, and no separate control box required. Competitors run their de-icers at under 2,000 RPM and move 180 GPM at best - the Scott Aerator units move 300 to 500 GPM, which is why they keep significantly more open water clear in the same conditions. Every motor is built from American-made stainless steel and backed by an unconditional 5-year warranty. Most competing brands warrant theirs for two.
Pick from 1/3, 1/2, 3/4, or 1 HP based on how much open water you need to maintain, then choose 115V or 230V and a 25, 50, or 100 ft factory-attached submersible cord. Standard dock-plate mounting is included. Six mount types are available directly in the variant dropdown: dock plate, dock post bracket, truss mount, tripod mount (no dock required), floating platform, and nylon-rope suspension. Floating platform ships at 35-150 ft cord lengths; nylon-rope suspension ships at 25 ft. Add an optional oscillator to extend coverage by auto-rotating the unit, or a thermostat for temperature-based scheduling.

Key Features
- Stainless Steel Submersible Motor: Sealed motor assembly built from marine-grade American stainless steel including the motor itself. Engineered for continuous 24-hour operation with no scheduled maintenance, no oil to monitor, and no separate control box. Built and assembled in Holland, Michigan.
- Four Motor Sizes Across Two Voltages: 1/3, 1/2, 3/4, and 1 HP. All four are available in both 115V and 230V. The 115V models include a Hubbell marine-style plug; the 230V models hardwire to a panel and are recommended for longer cord runs to avoid voltage drop.
- Six Mount Types in the Variant Dropdown: Choose Standard Dock Plate (included), Dock Post Bracket (round metal posts), Truss Mount (metal docks and frames), Tripod Mount (sits on the lakebed, no dock required), Floating Platform (for large open water areas), or Nylon-Rope Suspension (suspended from a boat, dock, or piling) directly in the variant selector. Floating platform ships at 35-150 ft cord lengths; nylon-rope suspension ships at the 25 ft cord length.
- Submersible Power Cord, 25 to 100 ft: Choose 25, 50, or 100 ft of factory-attached 12-gauge submersible cord. Custom lengths beyond 100 ft are available on request. Use the cord-length chart to plan your run from the unit back to the breaker panel.
- Outperforms Competing De-Icers: 3,450 RPM and 300 to 500 GPM throughput. Competitor 1 HP de-icers typically run under 2,000 RPM at 180 GPM. More water moved means more ice prevented in the same conditions.

Requirements & What to Know Before You Buy
- Dedicated GFCI Circuit: a GFCI-protected circuit is mandatory. Have a licensed electrician verify your existing wiring if you are not certain it qualifies.
- Power Off Around Swimmers and Skaters: disconnect power any time someone is on or in the water, including ice. This applies to every electric pond product.
- No Extension Cords: the motor must connect to the breaker panel through the included submersible cable or a properly sized replacement. Order a longer factory cord if 100 ft is not enough.
- Choosing 115V or 230V: all four motors are offered in both voltages. 115V models plug into a standard outlet via a Hubbell marine-style plug. 230V models hardwire to a panel and are recommended for longer cord runs to avoid voltage drop.
- Mounting: the standard dock plate is included. Dock post bracket, truss mount, tripod, floating platform, or nylon-rope suspension can be selected as add-ons depending on whether you have a dock and how you need the de-icer positioned in the water.
- Sizing: 1/3 HP and 1/2 HP suit single residential docks and small marinas. 3/4 HP fits multi-slip docks and small commercial setups. 1 HP is for large commercial marinas, boatyards, and any property where 75+ ft of open water is needed.
- Salt and Fresh Water: all stainless steel construction handles fresh, salt, and brackish water without special treatment.
- Continuous-Duty Motor: the de-icer is rated to run nonstop through winter. The optional thermostat lets it cycle on and off based on temperature instead.
